To assist the General Manager with all aspects of the Club which includes budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, member satisfaction, membership development, marketing, social media communication, organisation development and member services

To provide support role to the General Manager
To administer the database of the Club
To develop social, fundraising and education programmes for the Club
To promote and market the Club to members and prospective members
To provide a level of service and efficiency that meets and/or exceeds member expectation levels
To communicate effectively with members, the public, service providers, the Committees
To represent the Club and its members within the broader club community
To contribute to the compilation of a monthly newsletter
To assist with the arrangements of a national educational annual conference
To undertake any other administration work as directed by the General Manager

The nature of the position requires that work hours will be flexible and the incumbent is expected to plan and schedule the workload through seven days of the week. Minimum of 45 hours per week.

Strong leadership and communication skills are essential. The incumbent must have the ability to plan and to follow through on those plans. Must be a self-starter and be able to use initiative. The incumbent must be honest and reliable and must earn the respect of members and the public. Attention to detail is an essential requirement of the position. Must display good judgement and must be a creative thinker.

Previous managerial experience is not essential but will be advantageous.
Prior golf club experience is preferable not a pre-requisite.
Be familiar with the social media platforms and its marketing opportunities.
Marketing experience is not a pre-requisite but recommended.

Water Wise update - The rain is helping...but not much

November was a rainy month, and our Water Wise weather station recorded 263 mm of rain within the month - more than eight times that received in November 2015! However, water restrictions remain in place in many municipalities across the country. Why is this? Click here

HR UPDATE - The Club Labour Brief 2: BBBEE Relaxation: "Empowering Supplier"

The Minister has published an important Government Gazette regarding the definition / requirement for Measured Entities to be an "Empowering Supplier" as a qualifying process for BBBEE certification under the most recently published BBBEE Codes of Good Practice.

The Gazette advises that an Entity verified after 1 May 2016 will automatically be considered an "Empowering Supplier". This position will remain in force until further notice. Below are the confirmed dates for the GEO workshops in each region and the proposed daily schedule:

Western Cape : Tuesday 14th Feb - Bellville Golf Club
Gauteng : Thursday16th Feb - CCJ, Woodmead
Kwa-Zulu Natal : Tuesday 21st Feb - Durban CC
Southern Cape : Tuesday 14th March - Pezula Golf Estate

The workshops will cover all elements relating to GEO, how to register, how to capture data; auditing process and certification.
Some time for Q&A’s thereafter.
These workshops will provide a great opportunity for all stakeholders to network with one another and potentially result in additional combined workshops with the GM’s and Course Superintendents going forward.

Environmental consultants in this space will be invited to join us at the workshops, i.e. John Collier, Jock Tame and the GEOSA certified auditors.

BMI courses in 2017 - SAVE the DATES.

We will start the new cycle of the BMI courses for CCM certification in 2017, and plan to host two BMI’s – 1st in May and 2nd in October. Cost is R12 950 and this covers the full academic component. A minimum of 15 maximum of 24 delegates will be accommodated for each BMI.

  • BMI Leadership Principles - May 8th to 12th 2017 in JHB, venue to be confirmed in the new year.

  • BMI – Club Management - October 9th to 13th 2017 in either Natal or Cape Town. Venue to be confirmed.
